Josh Greenberg

Joshua M. Greenberg is the Director of Digital Strategy and Scholarship at the New York Public Library, where he built the Digital Experience Group and led a number of initiatives, from the new Drupal-based to a successful reorientation of institutional attitudes toward collection sharing and staff engagement in social media.

Dr. Greenberg, who joined the Library in 2007, was formerly the Associate Director, Research Projects, of George Mason University’s Center for History and New Media, where alongside other work he co-founded the Zotero project with some other guy. He has broad experience and understanding of the content and research needs of scholars as well as new technology-based information services and tools that can support a diverse spectrum of engagement with collections.

Dr. Greenberg holds a Ph.D. in Science & Technology Studies from Cornell University (2004), maintains research interests in the history & sociology of information technology and media studies, and is the author of From Betamax to Blockbuster (MIT, 2008).
